I was recently doing a presentation to a company and I asked the question ? Has anyone ever asked you how you would like to receive communication? There was a palpable silence and then the inevitable response was No not in all the years I have worked here.? At this point there was a shift of energy and attention in the room.? I have asked that question many times since and got the same response.
We all know it when we are talking to someone and we are on the same page so to speak. Our energies go up, were interested and open and we are present in the conversation.? Conversely we have all experienced the opposite when we sit listening to someone and wish they would just move on or get to the point.? Our communication preferences are inherent within us and we typically rely on our natural style in most situations.? Using this approach we have a 1 in 4 chance of connecting with another person.
