Quality Life Requires Integrating Money Into Your Life

Written by Hugh Massie | April 28, 2023

Money Energy Law #16:

Building a Quality Life is a trade-off. Integrate money to balance every area of your life.

According to the Gallup U.S. Life Evaluation Index1, only 51% of Americans feel like they are thriving. Everyone else feels like they are struggling or, even worse, suffering. That’s an alarming statistic.

Bu what defines quality of life? The World Health Organization defines it as "an individual's perception of their position in life in the context of the culture and value systems in which they live and about their goals, expectations, standards, and concerns.”

DNA Behavior takes it a step further.

At DNA Behavior, we believe living a Quality Life requires self-reflection. More specifically, it requires understanding and improving your relationship with money, which is heavily influenced by the relationship with yourself, identity, and your desired quality of life. If you focus on improving these three elements, it can help you build a healthier relationship with money and, thereby, increase your overall money energy.

How to Move From Struggling to Thriving

Let’s do a recap on the importance of understanding money energy. The power and capacity to generate wealth becomes a stored force releasable into your life at any time. Given that much of building a Quality Life has its roots in emotions, knowing how to manage the energy and influence of money is a key to delivering happiness, health, life balance, and quality relationships.

A key point to remember when thinking about the quality of life is this: Every life decision is financial. Every life decision has financial consequences. Every financial decision will impact the quality of your life. This is where confidence and wisdom are vital to the money decision-making process.

So, if understanding how to manage your Money Energy forms the basis of a quality life, we must consider carefully what actions can work against your Money Energy and either reduce their influence or avoid them completely. Then, we need to determine what should be actively pursued to secure a quality life.

A Story About a Strategist DNA Style

Let’s look at the case of Elizabeth Smith, a 34-year-old lawyer, and a senior executive responsible for negotiating and managing international client contracts. She has a Strategist DNA Style and shares many of the notable strengths. She thinks matters through, knows how to ask the difficult questions of others, favors logic over feelings, and is comfortable making tough decisions. On the downside, Elizabeth lacks patience with people and decision-making in her desire to get quick results.

Elizabeth has a strained work-life balance. She holds a high-paying job but works long hours. She owns her own apartment, but seldom takes vacations. There are other similar disparities in her life and Elizabeth feels they may be a result of her unhealthy relationship with money. During her recent annual financial planning review, she shared her concerns with her advisor.

The financial advisor, who is certified in Financial DNA and Money Energy, refers to Elizabeth's earlier completion of the DNA Natural Behavior Discovery Process to gain insights into her financial personality and explore opportunities to improve her Money Energy potential.

The advisor helps Elizabeth undergo an 8-step process to integrate money and her behavioral-style into a dedicated strategy. Through this life-rebalancing methodology, she was able to achieve a Quality Life with greater flexibility and harmony, the pursuit of longevity, and reduced stress.

If you follow a similar strategy, you may reap similar benefits to what Elizabeth experienced. Below is the 8-step process:

  1. Gain identity clarity, determine your behavioral style “superpower” and live authentically with it.

  2. Work and invest according to your identity, leverage your talents, reveal your passions and life purpose, and establish your personal vision, mission and values, but also acknowledge your limitations.

  3. Create and follow a financial plan (including a budget or spending plan) that is aligned to your purpose and commitment, and it will help reveal the achievable actions to reach your goals.

  4. Consider all your life energies, which include nutritional, mental, and physical health into your financial plans.

  5. Be consistent in your life and financial decisions, and open yourself to exponential opportunities to increase your Money Energy.

  6. Pay attention to your health, happiness, and stress levels. They are just as important as building wealth.

  7. Do a happiness self-check on these areas of your life:

    Life Purpose
    Career
    Finances
    Relationships
    Health and Recreation
    Community
    Confidence
    Wisdom

  8. Use the insights obtained through DNA Behavior and health-tracking devices to monitor your progress that include:

    Your Money Energy Score
    Your Heart Rate Variability (HRV)

Follow the 8 steps that Elizabeth did and improve your own life energies.
